It was allocation time at our meeting last Tuesday. This is the payoff for a years worth of fundraising where our club gives money to local non-profit organizations.
Giving back to your community is something many people think about but aren’t really sure where to start or how to make an impact. Rotary Club of Simi Sunset is a local organization that can help Simi Valley residents connect to their community and make a real difference.
Every year the Rotary Club of Simi Sunset hosts multiple fundraisers throughout the year to raise funding for some of the causes we support. Some of the fundraisers we hold are Johnna’s High Tea Party held every May, our annual Simi’s Endless Summer Beer Fest, coming this August, and the annual Hopetown Reunion, a vintage motocross reunion being held this November.

The funds we raise from our events help support our causes such as Shoes for Little Souls, a program to help disadvantaged families with clothing for the new school year, and Reading by Nine where Simi Sunset Rotary purchase books for local schools and help promote literacy within the classrooms. Additionally, these funds are used to help support local organizations in the community. These funds are dispersed at our annual Allocation event. On allocation night we invite the allocation recipients to come out, speak a little about their organization, and receive their funding checks. These funding checks are presented to them by the members of our organization. This year’s allocation was held last Tuesday, June 28th and we provided funding to the following, well deserved, organizations:
  • 99.1 The Ranch
  • Free Clinic of Simi Valley
  • Boy Scout Troop 698
  • Moorpark College Foundation
  • Cancer Support Community
  • Marcelle Erian Cancer Foundation
  • Samaritan Center
  • Daisy Girl Scout Troop 65437
  • Simi at the Garden
  • Simi Valley YMCA
The Rotary Club of Simi Sunset welcomes anyone who would like to come to one of our meetings and see what we are all about. We meet at 7pm every Tuesday at The Ranch 99.1 in the Simi Town Center mall. Or visit our website at www.simisunsetrotary.com for additional information.
